About Dr. Walia

H. Rosie Walia M.D. Family Practice is a solo family practice located in Plano, Texas. Dr. Rosie Walia, the owner and practicing physician, has been providing personalized, high-quality healthcare to patients of all ages for over 35 years.  Dr. Walia obtained her B.Sc (Hons) in Microbiology (cum laude) and MD (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa and completed her Family Practice residency program at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in Ontario, Canada. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, a fellow of the Canadian College of Family Physicians, and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is also an active member of the Texas Medical Association as well as the Collin-Fannin County Medical Society.  

In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Walia has active staff privileges at Medical City Plano since 1985.  She is active in the community and has served on numerous hospital committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Infection Control, Medical Records, Cancer Committee, Quality Review Committee, Peer Review, and the Executive Committee. She has served as Chief of Family Practice (1992-1993, 2019, and 2023) and Chairperson for the Ethics Committee (2015-2019).  Dr. Walia also currently serves on the Board of the Plano Physicians Network.  She is a strong advocate for individuals with mental retardation and has served on the Advisory Board of the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Agency in addition to having been a consulting physician for the Diagnosis and Evaluation Team of MHMR for several years.  She has been on the Advisory Board for special education in the Plano Independent School District and has also served as treasurer of the Red River Chapter, a local chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.  Recently, Dr. Walia was on the Leadership Advisory Board for HCA-Plano from 2014-2019.
